How can you make these past continuous?  Happily, I sit with my friends at lunch.  Harry runs around the field excitedly.  Janice faithfully brushes her hair everyday.  They suddenly hear the sound of a train whistle.  She accidentally sleeps through her alarm clock.  Unfortunately, we always get stuck in traffic.  Surprisingly many people walk late at night.  Luckily our dog behaves well around strangers.

 I went to sleep with gum in my mouth and now there’s gum in my hair and when I got out of bed this morning I tripped on the skateboard and by mistake I dropped my sweater in the sink while the water was running and I could tell it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good very bad day.

Your turn!  Work with your group to tell a story about a university student who had a bad day…  1. How does the day begin?  2. What problems happen?  3. How are the problems resolved?  4. In the end… Use sequencing, adverbs, past tense, and past continuous tense. The funnier, the better!
