Learning Objectives:  I can introduce a claim, acknowledge alternate claims and organize the reasons and evidence logically. (7.W.1.a)  I can support claims with logical reasoning an relevant evidence, using accurate, credible sources and demonstrating an understanding of the topic or text. (7.W.1.b)  I can establish and maintain a formal style of writing. (7.W.1.d)  I can provide a concluding statement or section that follows from and supports the argument presented. (7.W.1.e)  With some guidance and support from peers and adults, I can develop and strengthen my writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting or trying a new approach. (7.W.5)  I can use technology, Google Drive, to produce and publish my writing. (7.W.6) Lesson Notes  In an opinion/argumentative essay, you state your opinion/argument about an ___________ and try to ___________ others to agree with you.  The ways to make your opinion piece effect include: introduction, supporting reasons, and conclusion.  Introduction: Introduce the topic in an ________________ way. Clearly state your ____________ about it, as well as any opposing arguments or claims.  Supporting Reasons: Support your argument with at least _______ clear reasons and relevant evidence. As you create the piece, remember the elements of the mentor text that were most effective.
