Learning Objectives: 7.1.spi.1. Recognize cultural definitions (i.e., language, religion, customs, political systems, economic systems). 7.1.spi.3. Compare and contrast the tenets of the five major world religions (i.e., Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, and Judaism).

 How is Religion defined?  Religion is defined as one’s spiritual beliefs Why?

 Monotheistic – religions based on the belief in one God  Polytheistic – religions based on the belief in many gods  As is say the 5 major religions give me a “P” sign or a “M” sign.

 Tenants – these are the core beliefs of a religion  Place of Worship – this is where worshipers of a certain religion go to worship  Titles of Local Leaders – what do you call the people who lead the community in worship
