Here are some characteristics of a computer:  Fast - a computer can add millions of numbers per second.  Reliable - a computer can do different tasks quickly and accurately, and can continue working for hours or days.  Programmable - a computer can store and use instructions you give it. 6

Computer Concepts Asian Institute of Computer Studies Types of Computer: Supercomputers- fastest computer in the world. They have very high processing capacity, speed of calculation and are able to perform multiple tasks. 8

Servers- are computer used as the main computer in a network serving and connected to several other computers. Personal Computers- is a computer designed to be operated by an individual whose size, price and capabilities are determined by the usual application the person uses it for. The PC today would be either a desktop computer, or a portable computer either as laptop or a tablet computer. 9

This also serves as the link or interface between the computer and the human user. – Ex: Windows, Linux, UNIX, etc. 18
