{ Chapter 7 Lesson 3 Square Root Functions and Inequalities

 Square Root Function- A function that contains a square root of a variable.  Square Root Inequality- An inequality that involves square roots. Vocabulary

Square Root Function

Domain of Square Root Function

Examples

 After you find first x value in your table, plug value in to equation to find first y value.  Take y value you found to start your table.  If sign in front of square root is positive, range is Y ≥ first y value in table.  If sign in front of square root is negative, range is Y ≤ first y value in table. Finding Range

Example

 Make a table  First value of table is found by setting what is underneath the square root sign equal to zero and solving for x.  Second value is determined by the domain of the equation Graphing Square Root Functions

Example

 Same as domain of functions Domain of Inequalities

 Graph just like it was an equation  If the sign is, graph with a dotted line  If sign is ≥ or ≤, graph with a solid line  If sign is < or ≤, shade below line  If sign is > or ≥, shade above the line Graphing Inequality
