Influential factors to becoming an elite performer

Apart from physical & psychological attributes there are many factors that determine whether you can be an elite performer

Reflect on the factors both positive & negative that have contributed to your sporting success You are going to then feed this back to the class YOUR SPORTING PROGRESSION…

Social & Cultural Factors

Experience of sport at school Status of elite or professional sport within family or community Support of family Whether or not the country has the willingness or resources Amount of media exposure – role models? Anti discrimination policies Various barriers to progression – social class, gender etc. Financial resources – socio- economic status Infrastructure for elite performer – talent ID programmes
