F EATURE WRITING Assessment 1 – general comments

F EATURE WRITING Need to be specific when naming contacts – give names, phone numbers, not website addresses Need to identify for which newspapers/magazines the piece is being – some assessments gave two or three – you need to be specific because audiences differ within each category. Ensure that you get the ‘type’ of publication correct – many cited consumer magazines as business magazines, when in fact they are specialist magazines but also consumer titles

F EATURE WRITING Be clear on what the actual story is and make sure it fits into the features category – some of the suggestions read more like news stories. Be creative in your suggestions for interviews – and do not just use other students! Read your work before it is submitted – marks get lost because of poor grammar, spelling and punctuation.
