Debra Hicks My aim today is to answer this question…. What can I take away from today’s session and introduce in my classroom tomorrow?

Debra Hicks...or perhaps this question… What has the department done to support me in bringing online learning to my students?

Debra Hicks So, let’s take a look at… Digilearn ePotential Connect

Debra Hicks Digilearn… DigiLearn is the Department’s online portal designed to provide all teachers with access to innovative digital learning resources anywhere anytime. They aim to promote the development of the digital, visual and information literacy skills required for the future. Digital learning resources play a central role in integrating ICT into the curriculum, developing innovative practices and transforming the way students learn.

Debra Hicks ePotential Work Sample This sample was created by Year 2 students at Essendon North P.S. The students were asked to create a mind map showing what they know about birds. They completed the task working individually and independently……The activity was done as part of a literacy block, integrating the science unit…….

Debra Hicks Connect…to a space just for you… The Connect web site links school students, teachers and principals to online resources that have been recommended and reviewed by educators. It is an Internet White List. The Connect site is a Portal website that links to local and international educational web pages. Some schools choose to restrict their students to the Connect site as their only view of the Internet. This may be because they feel it is safer online environment for their students and/or it reduces Internet costs. Connect has a Teacher, Early Childhood, Primary Student and Secondary Student portal. Make it your students home page!

Debra Hicks Time for Reflection… Effective leaders in an online world understand the transformative potential of ICT. They use their skills in the creation of new learning environments, in the appropriate and purposeful integration of ICT in learning, and in high-level management and communication processes. In these ways leaders are proactive in creating productive 21st century schools. “Leadership Strategy” MCEETYA 2006
