Foundational Verse When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. John 19:30

Outline  What was finished?  How can we live like “it is finished”?

What was finished? Sin was finished Penalty of Sin He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:13b-14

What? Power of Sin For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Romans 6:6-7

Refuse past guilt and shame! So now there is no condemnation to those who belong to Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1 How can we live like “it is finished?”

Enjoy your new status in Christ! See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! 1 John 3:1a How can we live like “it is finished?”
