2 Romans 7:7-25 What does the law show us? Our sins
How is it possible that the law could bring life in verse 10? Jesus said, “Do this and you will live.” (obey perfectly)”

Paul calls us slaves in verse 14. To what were we slaves? To whom were we slaves? We were slaves to sin and Satan

4 Points to Note What good lives in us according to verse 18? Nothing

We are slaves of sin, death and the Devil. We are doomed to hell.

14 Terms we must know Old Adam a.k.a. sinful nature =
the part of me that wants to sin and follow the devil to hell. New Man = the part of a Christian that wants to do what God wants us to do. Redeem = to buy back

15 What has Christ done for us?
Hebrews 9:15 “For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.”

16 What has Christ done for us?

Ephesians 1:7 “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace…” Jesus’s death has redeemed me.

19 What has Christ done for us?
He has redeemed me from all my sins with his death.

20 From what have I been Redeemed?

25 From what have I been Redeemed?

27 From what have I been Redeemed?

28 From what have I been Redeemed?
I have been redeemed from sin, death and the power of the devil in order to live my life to God’s glory.

29 What does this mean for me every day?
Galatians 5:17 “For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

30 What does this mean for me every day?

31 What does this mean for me every day?
2 Corinthians 5:14-17 “For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.  16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

32 What does this mean for me every day?

Philippians 2:13 “for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”

34 What does this mean for me every day?
Philippians 2:13 “for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.” God enables and motivates me to want to do his will.

35 What does this mean for me every day?
As a child of God struggle daily with my Old Adam. By God’s grace I win. When I fail I’m forgiven.

36 What is the problem? I don’t want to go to church/ do my homework/ mow the lawn. The struggle between the Old Man and New Man
