Making Space Dementia Support Service Richmondshire & Hambleton Living well with dementia

Making Space has been established since 1982 and is a uk charity providing quality care and support services for people with mental health conditions, dementia, learning disability and physical disabilities, as well as for older adults and carers Who are Making Space?

Making Space dementia services Over the last 5 years our dementia services have grown and we now have an independent hospital for people with dementia in Manchester, day centres in Doncaster, extra care schemes in Darlington and community services which include dementia cafes and community services in Kirklees, Derby, Bury and Oldham. Making Space has also invested our own money into building 14 purpose built dementia friendly flats

Central dementia team Making Space is very much committed to supporting those living with dementia and their carers and has recently developed a central dementia team which is lead by our Admiral Nurse

Central dementia team Our team supports staff by delivering quality dementia training, providing services with a tool kit which enables them to deliver high quality services. The toolkit includes activity resources, fact sheets, educational programmes and we are currently rolling out a pain assessment tool kit, so staff are able to identify the signs and symptoms of when people are experiencing pain.
