2.4 Public Policy How do the federal and provincial governments make public policy?

What is Public Policy? Public Policy is a broad statement of what the government does. Policy can start out as a political party platform. Or, Policy can start out as a political party platform. Or, Royal Commission – A government appointed group of citizens responsible for investigating matters of federal or provinicial concern. Ex: Teachers, Doctors/Nurses, Ministry Employess, etc. Ex: Teachers, Doctors/Nurses, Ministry Employess, etc.

Ministries The Prime Minister and the Cabinet are responsible for setting public policies. Cabinet – Ministers responsible for specific departments.
