PROWAT Training Programme The objective is to provide engineers and technicians with the skills that are necessary for the implementation of international best practice on all aspects of water loss reduction and control. The objective is to provide engineers and technicians with the skills that are necessary for the implementation of international best practice on all aspects of water loss reduction and control. Central in the course is the participant which is an active learner who builds knowledge through social interaction with others (students and trainer) within a context driven by own motivation. Central in the course is the participant which is an active learner who builds knowledge through social interaction with others (students and trainer) within a context driven by own motivation. The courses can be delivered with a mixture of face to face learning (in the class room or distant learning (online via the internet). This is commonly known as blended learning. Pilot PROWAT Training Testing  The aim of the pilot training testing was to get opinion and feedback of user groups and experts about the training material prepared as part of PROWAT project.  The result of the testing was intended for use to improve the training material and finalize it before the end of the project.

 The training materials in 6 languages:  English  Finnish  French  Greek  Italian  Turkish  And the testing in 5 languages:  English (Belgium and Dutch partners)  Finnish  Greek  Italian  Turkish PROWAT Training Materials and Testing

Proposed PROWAT Pilot Test Methodology

Proposed PROWAT Pilot Training Test Methodology

Testing by Partners Partners were free to adapt the methodology for their country and user group A 30-question common questionnaire were used to get opinion of the participants The comments from testing in English were utilized primarily by Training2000 for modification of training material in MOODLE The comments from testing in national languages were used to modify the MOODLE training materials in partners’ languages.

The common questionnaire The common questionnaire for the testing Content: Student Information Background Information Learning Objectives Design Activities Content Navigation and Instructions Logistics / Performance Global Transferability of Content Miscellaneous Questionnaire results of 125 participants are available for this report. The number of participants with respect to their countries is as follows: Turkey (25), Greece (15), Finland (9), The Netherlands (30), Italy (10), and Belgium (36).

Survey Results

Comments: * An important topic is serving by an higly motivated method * Not only the engineers but also everybody related to water loss * Especially the chat facility enhances the capacity of the course

Survey Results

Other Comments: * Presentations with sound and more colorful user interface may be used. * Visual contents and the duration of the course should be increased * Video and journal papers may be included * Doing some leak detection practice may enhance this learning experience. * It has enhanced my technical knowledge * Some management aspects of water resources * Experience in on-line learnning * Knowledge on how to locate breakdowns * More illustration * Combination of Video * The moodle environment used should also be in Greek * Photos and visual examples * More quizzes, e.g. "multiple choices" questions than exercises * More tests; they were very helpful in understand the topics * A strong motive to complete the course; for example, a formal certification for successful completion *The components are there to enhance the learning experience with for instance, multimedia; it is up to the trainers to make full use of them! * Practise * Pictures * Expert * Visit water company

Survey Results Other Comments: * More knowledge may be added about new technologies or methods for leak detection * Some small design questions may be included * Evaluvation of water losses and practice of performance indicators * Recycle of used water * Losses of money paid water may be included * More easy entrance to the system and printing options * Joining projects about the topic * Module E should be developed * technologies and tools for surveying * Update on technologies and innovation in integrated water services * How to contact the client when performing tests * Ways used by other countries to reduce NRW * More water management issues * Specific case studies for Greece * The other chapters that are currently only in English * Animations from hydraulics and other technical issues * Simulatios and Graps more * Cases, best practices * Benefit-Cost analysis may be included
