Presentation transcript:

1. Prisoner of War in Babylon Most of the Jews hated Babylon, especially those who lived there as slaves. Jeremiah 29:27-28

The Jews who escaped captivity thought they were safe from danger and that the slaves in Babylon would die. The reality was just the opposite!

Daniel could see the idolatrous nature of man. Daniel 2:31

THE ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT Daniel changed his attitude toward Nebuchadnezzar. It’s hard to save what you want to destroy! ISOLATION isn’t the answer! Daniel 1:1, 2

2. Prospering in Babylon One of the biggest temptations in Babylon is to compromise your convictions. Daniel 1:8 Another temptation is to rebel against the authority of Babylon. Daniel 1:12

THE AUTHORITY ADJUSTMENT Daniel came to genuinely respect Nebuchadnezzar. It is hard to redeem something you hate! ASSIMILATION isn’t the answer!

3. President of Babylon Daniel prospered during the reigns of four kings, Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar, Darius and Cyrus. Daniel 2:48; 5:29; 6:2

Daniel led Nebuchadnezzar to worship Jehovah God It’s hard to rule what you want to ruin! REDEMPTION IS THE ANSWER!

Daniel understood it was God who sent him to Babylon. Daniel loved Israel, but he understood the Kingdom of God was greater than Jerusalem.

Daniel 4:25

THE EMPHASIS ADJUSTMENT Daniel discovered from the book of Jeremiah that the seventy years of Babylonian captivity had been fulfilled and began praying for God to restore the Jews to Jerusalem. Daniel 9:2

God showed him he was looking backward when he should have been looking forward to the coming Messiah! Daniel 9:25

Daniel stopped looking back at slavery and started looking forward to the coming Savior!
