Generate Easy Income in Your Spare Time with This Step by Step Jewelry Design Guide By Nadine Bergeron

Tip #1 – Give Your Jewelry Personality Ask Yourself "Does my handmade jewelry line have a unique personality?". This is an important question to ask because if your jewelry doesn't have a personality or voice of its own, it will be lost in the sea of imported and mass produced jewelry that bombards the consumer every day. Article Source:

Examples of how to Personalize Your Jewelry Designs 1. Add few dichroic glass beads in strategic areas of your design. Dichroic glass gives off a beautiful, iridescent sheen that adds color and life to a handmade jewelry piece. 2. Add a stunning pendant to the center of some of your necklaces. Don't settle for just an ordinary pendant. Look for something no one else has. You can make an incredible pendant by using a headpin, and unusual lampwork bead and some decorative sterling silver beads. 3. Use a distinctive, large, beautifully detailed high quality clasp that grabs attention. A simple clasp change can often give a necklace or bracelet an entirely new personality. You may even consider having a signature clasp cast for you by a jewelry casting company. This is not as expensive as you might think and really adds to your design options. 4. Try some unusual color combinations. Certain colors placed together can really make a design "pop". Review your color wheel and note how a color can be markedly enhanced when placed next to its complement. Don't settle for tired, overused color combinations. Think out of the box! 5. Consider adding gorgeous buttons or charms with a vintage look as a centerpiece for some of your necklaces. This can add such a vintage feel to your creations. Article Source:

Tip #2 – Use the Power of Blogging to Build Your Jewelry Business 1. Tell customers the story behind your jewelry designs. Customers might want to know what motivated you to get started in jewelry design and why you create the type of jewelry you do. 2. Tell customers about the steps you take to create your jewelry. Include a sequence of photos that illustrate the process. This will allow your customer to see how your jewelry is different from mass produced jewelry found in department stores. 3. Show photos of your very latest, cutting edge jewelry designs. Let your customers know how they can order these hot, new designs. 4. Keep your customers abreast of any upcoming craft and jewelry shows where you'll be exhibiting your jewelry. 5. Let your customers know about upcoming special sales, discounts, and promotions relating to your jewelry designs. 6. Give your customers unique ideas on how to wear your jewelry. Include photos illustrating some of these ideas. Article Source:

Tip #3 - Some “unique” ways to market your Jewelry You may be worried that there is so much competition out there in the jewelry selling business. However, there are several lucrative ways to showcase your designs without having to compete with other vendors at craft shows, flea markets etc. The first is to tap into your warm market of family and friends. Just ask them if they would host a jewelry party at their house and invite their friends. This is a great way to get started. Just set up a table with your jewelry have a little food and drinks and sales will start to roll into. Women like to shop and socialize. You will have the best of both worlds with this strategy. Some other ideas where you can design your jewelry to cater to different markets is with the following: 1. Cat jewelry for a veterinarian's office who specializes in the care of cats. 2. Dog jewelry for veterinarian's offices, doggie day care facilities, boarding and grooming centers, pet stores etc. 3. Ballet themed jewelry for dance studios and dancing supply stores. 4. Plant and flower themed jewelry for gardening centers and gardening gift shops. 5. Food themed jewelry for gourmet supply and gourmet foods stores. 6. Bicycle themed jewelry for bicycle supply stores. Article Source:
