June, GSICS Data files are inter-calibration of Monitored and Reference Instrument ( i.e Monitored Inst Radiance- Ref Instrument Radiance ) Data sets shipped in netcdf-4 format on a daily basis. For instrument monitoring purpose one can directly use an idl MATLAB routine to read and plot and get an answer about instrument measurement anomalies over time. Use of GSICS Data for Monitoring Application of Monitoring of FY-3E Monitoring

June, It is a constant endeavour to use GSICS data for climate monitoring. Complete steps are stated in any FCDR ATBD ( for eg FIDUCEO or MSU/AMSU ) however GSICS baseline SNO algorithms ( beta tested) are a basis for gathering collocations that eventually resolve/quantify the monitored instrument bias in multi- dimensions (Scan angle, trends, diurnal etc..). Once quantified these are corrected to produce a time series that can be used for climate monitoring ( see details FIDUCEO document) and routinely validated using independent validation techniques. Use of GSICS data for Climate Monitoring

June, GSICS Algorithms play a central role in re-calibration of legacy instruments such as the AVHRR. Due to its length ( 30 yrs +), Once AVHRR are re-calibrated they can provide close to climate scale accuracy and become a vital time series useful for extracting climate signals from space. June, Stable and accurate in-orbit instruments are vital for effectively monitoring GEO and LEO instruments. Cascade of reference instruments are critically needed to re- calibrate existing and past instruments. CLARREO is a mission planned to provide SI traceable radiances that can be used as an absolute in-orbit reference. Prior to CLARREO we need a procedure to assign a reference instrument status to in-orbit instrument.
