newsClip Improved layout analysis on born digital PDFs newsClip 6.4 newsClip 6.3 Layout analysis on PDFs provides sometimes poorer results than on comparable scanned pages using previous newsClip versions. Differences between scanned pages and "born digital" pages: PDFs have no "dirt", so no stand-alone points that should be ignored for the LA. On the contrary: all pixels have a meaning, should be associated with an object or a zone. The text used in PDFs is much thinner, thus consists of much less black pixels. Line width is often only one pixel. The previous LA therefore needlessly splits zones in some parts. Home Next
