3 rd Grade Ms. Lewko *Objectives* You will be able to identify each simple machine. You will understand the following terms: force, effort, and work.
What is work? How does it occur? The result when a force moves an object a certain distance.

Some facts about Simple Machines
Energy & Simple Machines.
Simple Machines There are 6 types of simple machines: the inclined plane, the wedge, the screw, the lever, the pulley, and the wheel and axle.
By Antek  A basic tool that magnifies effort.  A lever is a thing that you push it and then the thing that you put on it goes up.
 A machine is an instrument that multiplies force to make work faster and easier. We can classify machines into two groups, depending on faster complexity:
Classification of simple machines: Simple machines are divided into two families: 1)The Lever family and 2) The inclined plane family.
Simple Machines These make work easier for us by allowing us to push or pull an object with less input force.

Simple Machines All machines are made from the six simple machines: lever, inclined plane, wedge, screw, wheel and axle, and pulley.
By Kirsten.  Incline planes make jobs easier but make more work.  They make it easier by going on an angle which which means you can push something.

1.These two parts act as one simple machine. They roll and are found on cars and bikes. 2.This simple machine can be used to lift a weight. It has a fulcrum, or pivot point, which can be located in the center, near the end or at the end. 3.A heavy object could be rolled up this simple machine, instead of lifting it straight up. Using this simple machine can save effort, although the object must usually cover more distance if this simple machine is used. 4. This is made of a rope, chain, or wire that is pulled over a wheel. It redirects force, making it easier to do work because it is easier to pull down than to pull up. Pulley Wheel & Axle Lever Inclined Plane
