Developmentally Appropriate Sport By: John Tseng KH /9/13

What is the starting age for sports? Young kids from elementary school start to develop physical activities formed by the school. Even out of school they would run and play with friends At about 5 to 8 years old, children develop the way to compare themselves to others in order to understand their own level. As kids start to get into the game and sports, they will learn the competition as a social motivation

Physical and Mental Grows Slowly kids will start playing in groups and party of 5 or more. With this they will adapt on how to play fairly and distinguish skills which will help them with their muscles. Kids should participate at a level that best suits them with their development. Here is a example of what type of sport that help kids grow and take part in being a player and a leader. Soccer

Physical and Mental Cont. Soccer is a great sport that has no formal competition, no league standings, no trophies, and no stats. In elementary school, teachers and coaches would have kids play soccer over the season. In elementary school, there are no drills of any sort. Just straight up fun sport for kids to develop the tactics and skills when they get older. With the sports that we offer today, (golf, basketball, football, tennis, ping pong and baseball) there are many types of ‘level’ which adults use to separate kids by age and performance.

Levels Kids of the same age or same skills would be put together to compete. That way when two teams go head to head, we would see a clear resemblence on theirs team scores being neck and neck. Having a game where the score is always close shows that every one in the team are equally the same and the outcome of the results are 50/50.

F.U.N Whenever playing any types of sports, there is always that one aspect that should never be forgotten. That is, having fun and enjoy the game or match. There is no need to frustrated over a bad shot or bad call. Just remember that there is always next round or next year. If many who really take sports to seriously, it could back fire on them. This could result in dropping out classes and exercises.
