Other hazardous materials identified included: – Fluorescent light ballasts, freon-containing air conditioning units, fluorescent light tubes, an above-ground storage tank, and a lead-acid battery. Asbestos Abatement Specifications were completed in 2003 – The Spec outlined the removal and disposal of asbestos containing ceiling texture, wall texture, vinyl sheet flooring, and restroom pipe venting prior to building demolition. – The removal and disposal of mercury containing fluorescent lights and thermostats, air conditioner refrigerants, polychlorinated biphenyl containing light fixture ballasts, and an above ground fuel oil storage tank was also included in the Spec.

Redevelopment Status Pocket park developed in 2006 Farmers market held on the site as well as other community events. Building for Nye County Emergency Services, the Tonopah Volunteer Fire Department, and the Tonopah Volunteer Ambulance Service constructed in 2011

Future Use Nye County representatives have coordinated with local electric provider, NV Energy, to receive funding to install an electric vehicle super charging station on the site. The site was selected due to its proximity to Highway 95; the fact that it is within walking distance to hotels, restaurants, and convenience stores; easy ingress/egress; and access to three-phase power.
