New Theme: Heroes, leaders, and Role Models Define what a hero is. What are some words that come to your mind when you think of a hero. What are some differences between a leader, hero, and role model. Be prepared to share!

Follow these guidelines to ensure the highest grade possible on the rubric. – A persuasive speech- This should persuade your audience to believe the same beliefs that you have. You may choose any school appropriate topic to discuss. This speech MUST be typed and should take about 2-3 minutes to give the speech. – An inspirational speech- This should inspire your audience to want to make great changes. You may choose any school appropriate topic to discuss. This speech MUST be typed and should take about 2-3 minutes to give the speech. – A letter to your role model- This should follow criteria for a friendly letter and should be addressed to a real role model of yours. You should include reasons why they are your role model and examples of what they have done. This should be between 3-5 paragraphs in length. – Quote interpretation- This should be an interpretation of a famous quote given by someone that can be categorized as a hero, leader, or role model. You may choose from the samples given in class. You MUST explain what the quote means, what the context of the quote is, and why this person would say this. Explain how this relates to you in your life. – Biography excerpt of a hero, leader, or role model- This should be a short excerpt between 3-5 paragraphs that consists of different facts and information about a person that can be considered a hero, leader, or a role model. This should be in your own words and should not just be a Wikipedia page about the individual.
