Objectives The students will be able to… determine the difference between area and perimeter. Calculate the area and perimeter of parallelograms and rectangles. Solve for the missing pieces of rectangles and paralellograms.

How would you get the perimeter? Your answer: Add up all of the sides Formula: P = 2l + 2w Example: If the length of a rectangle is 12 inches and the width is 7 inches, what is the perimeter?

Some more difficult problems… If the area of a rectangle is 108 sq. in and the length is 6 inches, a) what is the width? b) what is the perimeter? If the perimeter of a rectangle is 48 feet, and the width is 16 feet, what is the area of the rectangle?
