Presentation transcript:

Please paraphrase the following quote from the article: “Researchers have also tested the effects of the games on teens’ brains. The findings show that violent games have significant short-term effects” (Gomez 9).

Please paraphrase the following quote from the article: “Critics of the games argue that teens transfer the violence they see to the real world” (Gomez 8-9).

Learning Goal I will learn to paraphrase a quote from a section of text in complete sentences using my own words by completing a “Quote Quest.”

3D Writing Resource Disk “Words to Go”

Quote Quest QUOTE: “Critics of the games argue that teens transfer the violence they see to the real world” (Gomez 8-9). PARAPHRASE: I think this means that many people believe that violent behavior in video games influences players and leads them to imitate the behavior in their own lives.

Responding to the Quote QUOTE: “Critics of the games argue that teens transfer the violence they see to the real world” (Gomez 8-9). TOPIC SENTENCE: I disagree with the statement that violent video games cause teens to demonstrate more violent behavior in their real lives. SUPPORTING SENTENCE 1: Drawing from my own experience, teens are exposed to violent behavior through many forms of entertainment outside of video games. SUPPORTING SENTENCE 2: Consequently, I do not think that violence in video games affects teen behavior any more significantly than violence in other forms of media entertainment.

Exit Reflection In a brief paragraph, identify one specific detail or argument that caught your attention in today’s article reading and respond to it in a three- sentence paragraph.
