How important is the resurrection?

1Cor 15 1)Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2) by which also you are saved,

if you hold fast that word which I preached to you– unless you believed in vain. 3) For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: (first of all: the gospel) that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

4) and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5) and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. 11) Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed.

2) Unless you believed in vain! One form of unbelief circulating around Corinth was this: 12) Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?

13) But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. 14) And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.

15) Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up– if in fact the dead do not rise. 16) For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen.

17) And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! 18) Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19) If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.

Remember the gospel? 1 Cor 15:4 which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4) and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, 5) and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.

Note some of these: All of These try to nullify receiving the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. -Some said Jesus did not come in the flesh but was a spirit. 1 John says 4:2) By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,

3) and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. -Some said they have no sin 1 John 1:8) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

-Some said they had not sinned 1 John 1:10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. -Some tried to say that there were other ways to God John 14:6) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

-Some tried to say He was not God, or the Messiah but a good teacher, good man, or good leader. John 20 31) but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

For it is written: “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” Romans 10:11 13) For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” Romans 10:13
