THE BOOT COUNTRY: ITALY By Mr. Korn

Italy is a country on the continent of Europe. It is shaped like a boot. Italy is a peninsula. A peninsula is when land sticks out into the water.

Italy is famous because it is one of the oldest countries in the world. Rome is a city in Italy. Rome has some of the oldest buildings in the world. Some of them are over 1,000 years old and they are still standing! This building is called the Colosseum. It is an old stadium.

Italy is also famous for its delicious food. Spaghetti was first made in Italy. Italians also make a very good kind of ice cream called gelato. Do you think there would be a good aroma here?

Italian people love to play soccer and they love to watch soccer. But in Italy soccer is called football. Italy’s football team is very good. They have won the World Cup 4 times!

Many beautiful clothes are made in Italy too. Milan is a city in Italy where people go to get fancy clothes. Clothes from Milan are sent all over the world. You cannot wear these clothes to school. They are very expensive! Are these clothes ordinary?
