WHO ELSE ATTENDS? Who are the other students that study there? How many english language programs are there?

CAN YOU LIVE/WORK AFTER GRADUATION? How long are you allowed to stay in the country after graduation looking for work?

RECOGNITION IN YOUR HOME COUNTRY? Degrees obtained from outside the US must be evaluated before applying for a Master’s program

LANGUAGES NEEDED? Is the course 100% in English? You must check carefully

CHARACTERISTICS FOR A GOOD FIT Motivation and interest in the specific program Willingness to learn another/local language Open-mindedness: Mindset that fits in to the country of education Flexibility: Style of teaching and assessment Adaptability: What is the level of guidance and assistance at the university? Independent, can-do attitude Perserverance: Transferring within a degree or to a different country can be very difficult

CULTURE The decision in which country to study has an effect on the experiences of the student in that country: Cold climate? Liberal or not? Tolerant? Level of Independence needed? Level of English spoken in the country? Big or small town? City life or Suburb?

STUDENT LIFE Clubs often run by student unions Housing can be offered by university but not assured, can be an apartment with other students Sports are similar to intramurals in the USA Extra curricular activities usually more difficult to find and fewer are organized. May need to depend on community resources

ADMISSIONS International Baccalaureate A-levels US High School Diploma with at least 3-5 AP exam results Leaving diploma from home country International students might be required to go into a one- year foundation programme before entry to UG Generally speaking, students apply directly to the universities and therefore should enquire first

ADMISSIONS Additional documents can include: Proof of language proficency Proof of math proficiency Interview/ Motivational Essay/ Personal Statement Entrance exam - institutional, independent or governmental CV Application fee Proof of previous work experience for specialised programs (often at U Applied Sciences) Health or Police record Letters of recommendation (more selective programs/institutions)

Deadlines tend to be during spring or even late in the summer of the year of entrance. Selective programs tend to have fall deadlines Sometimes international students have to apply earlier than others Generally, degree programs start in early September to mid-October DEADLINES
