What is FFA?  The Pope Horticulture Club is a chapter of FFA  It is a huge agricultural youth organization.  22,000 members in Georgia alone.

Hort Club Membership Includes FFA Membership & benefits:  $8 membership  You are eligible to participate in any Pope Horticulture or State FFA event.  $15 Membership  Includes full Leadership Package:  FFA Student manual  FFA handbook  200 Ag career brochures  Event Calendar  State officer directory  New Horizons magazine subscription

So What’s First?  Election of Officers.  President  Vice President  Secretary  Treasure  Reporter

Officer Requirements  Must be a present or past horticulture student at Pope.  Officers must meet as a team periodically to set up the meeting agendas.  Must agree to attend at least 2 Competition Events (CDE) during the year.  Must attend State Convention in April in Athens, GA.

Officer Requirements #2 You must learn the correct way to run the business portion of a club meeting … parliamentary procedure.

Officer Requirements #3  You must agree to try and control your happiness no matter how good a time you are having in Horticulture!  The Officers and Hort Club members will plan and run the club….  Mr. Green serves as Advisor, not the President.

Then What? 1. Brainstorm a calendar of events. 2. Plan a fun activity like a camp trip. 3. Plan a fund raiser activity. 4. Plan a community service activity. 5. Help with Plant Sales. 6. Design and sell our Horticulture T-shirt. 7. End each club meeting with live music. 8. End of year Awards Banquet.

What Will It Take?  Looking Beyond Our Nose.  Working Together.  Learning new skills.  Believing in our cause.
