Reasons Why We Should Read And Study The Bible

Introduction I ran across this list recently and I liked it. I find no error in this list. So, it is worthy to share. Each of these on this list has a scriptural foundation.

The First Reason And probably the most important reason. A reason that many will discount immediately. Because God Said So 2 Timothy 2:15

The Rest Of The Reasons In No Particular Order Of Importance To be approved unto God Acts 10:35

To know God and His Son John 14:7

To learn what pleases God Hebrews 13:16

To become more equipped to teach others 2 Timothy 2:2

To ensure our own salvation Philippians 2:12

To understand God’s plan, and his will for us Ephesians 3:10

To grow spiritually 2 Peter 3:18

To stand unashamed before God on Judgment Day

To have peace in our lives Philippians 4:7

To sharpen our sword Hebrews 4:12

To become better equipped to combat Satan and his servants Ephesians 6:10-18

To please God with our devotion

To be able to refute false doctrine Titus 1:9

To stand on our own beliefs and not on those that have been passed on to us Romans 14:4

To keep ourselves from sin Psalm 119:11

To examine ourselves continually against the perfect standard 2 Corinthians 13:5

To keep our hearts pure Psalm 24:3-4

To diligently increase our faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and love 2 Peter 1:5-8

To be perfect and complete Colossians 2:10

To gain strength Colossians 1:9-11

To add to our joy and contentment

To get to heaven Matthew 25:34

So we will never forget 1 Corinthians 10:24-25

Because of Christ’s sacrifice Hebrews 9:26

Conclusion There are even more reasons to read and study the Bible. Psalm 119 give us nearly 176 more reasons. Take this list and add to it. By doing so, you will see the value of reading and studying the Bible. Are you living the way the Bible reveals what God requires of you?
