BAD EXAMPLE  Looking at the example, what needs changed, fixed, added, or taken out?

SUBJECT LINE The subject line should always be relevant: giving the reader a hint about what the is about.  Examples  “Business English absence”  “Question about assignment – Business English”  “Monday 3/28 – Business English”  Write a new subject line for the example .

GREETING  All formal and semi-formal s need a greeting. With your partner, think of as many greetings as you can.  Examples of greetings: To whom it may concern: Dear ____, Hi ______!  Write a greeting for the example .

INTRODUCTION SENTENCE  In a formal/semi-formal , you want to get to the point quickly. Don’t talk about the weather.  An acceptable opening: “I hope this finds you well.”  Add an opening sentence to your .

CONTENT Tips  Keep your sentences together in one block.  Be respectful and use polite language.  Don’t use emoticons or slang words  Take a minute to rewrite the sentences of the example . Add polite language, and make sure all the sentences are in blocks.
