Objectives: 1. introduce the relationship between communication (language) and culture 2.to critically reflect on the process of communication and the role of language cross0culturally 3.introduce basic linguistic concepts and methodologies utilized by anthropologies (anthropological linguistics, linguistic anthropology)

Methodology and evaluation readings, lectures, films, class conversations exercises and examinations. attend classes and read in advance three in class examinations (20% each) a short essay of 5 to 6 pages (20%) class participation and attendance (20%)
