A PROGRAM DESIGNED SO OUR STUDENTS CAN SHINE LIKE STARS EVERYDAY! PBIS AT WEST MANHEIM

WHAT IS PBIS?

SCHOOL-WIDE SYSTEMS OF POSITIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION & SUPPORT Expectations for students’ behaviors are explicitly defined by a school team with input from all staff members. Positive Behavior Interventions & Support strategies are implemented consistently by all staff members. Appropriate student behaviors are taught. Positive behaviors are publicly acknowledged and celebrated.

WHY PBIS? Positive Behavior Interventions & Support strategies are implemented consistently by all staff members. The structure provides clear, established expectations throughout the building and school grounds. STARs allows staff to take notice and acknowledge positive behaviors over the negative.

* THIS IS FOUND ON PAGE 1 OF THE PBIS PACKET. STARS MATRIX

HOW ARE WE GOING TO SHARE STARS WITH THE STUDENTS? Pre-written lesson plans Rotation Schedule for teaching the cafeteria, playground, bathroom, and bus expectations Individual teachers, paraeducators, and specialists are expected to teach the instructional area expectations for their particular classroom.

SHARING WITH PARENTS Parent brochure: “Where Students are STARs” Give to parents to introduce at October conferences

INCENTIVES “STAR CARDS” AND REWARD FOR FIRST TRIMESTER Staff will distribute “Star Cards” selectively to students to acknowledge and promote desired behaviors. Star cards will be completed and signed by teachers before being deposited into the “Star Card” collection container. A school-wide reward (to be determined) will be announced at the end of the first trimester if/when we meet our West Manheim goal. Our goal: Fill the container with “Star Cards” by promoting positive behaviors throughout the school day.

SO WHERE IS PBIS GOING? Build upon throughout the next few years. School wide reward toward individual reward. Identify creative/effective to track student behavior with minimal effort Increase student desire to consistently follow expectations.
