Overview of the Profession PTA’s work with patients disabled by disease, injury or accident to improve function and restore quality of life.
Work Environments PTA’s are employed in a variety of settings including –Hospitals –Private Outpatient Clinics –Rehabilitation Centers –Wellness Centers –Nursing Homes –School Systems –Home Health Agencies
Hospitals Individuals with joint replacements, post operative patients, those in the intensive care unit. Assist them to improve their mobility to return home.
Individuals with shoulder, back, knee, and other orthopedic injuries. Apply modalities, develop exercise programs and educate the patient to promote return to work and leisure activities. Outpatient Clinics
Wellness Centers Create and implement exercise conditioning programs, monitor progress, and educate patients on injury prevention.
Rehabilitation Centers Improve the ability to walk and perform daily activities of patients with: Spinal Cord Injury Head Injury Stroke Amputation Multiple Sclerosis
Accomplish all this through your knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology Disease Processes Medications Specialized Therapeutic Techniques Electrical and Thermal Modalities Massage

Educational Plan – Admissions Criteria Minimum 2.5 grade point average C or higher in degree required courses Applicants ranked by number of general education courses completed and GPA Top 16 students accepted
