4 Nursing Program Admission 1. Pre-Nursing Orientation 2. Nursing Program Application –Must re-apply each year if not accepted 3. All transcripts must be submitted to both: Nursing Program 26300 Airport Rd, Punta Gorda 33950 Records Dept. Must be official transcripts from colleges you have attended

5 Criminal Background Check Admission to the Nursing Programs at Edison College is dependant on a Criminal background check Student Acceptance will be “Provisional” until a FDLE (Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement) Background check has been completed & results returned to Edison Nursing Department

6 Background Checks Any applicant who has been convicted of a Felony will need to provide explanation and a “clearance” from the Florida Board of Nursing An applicant is required to submit, in writing, an explanation to the Director of the Edison Nursing Program, any criminal charges. This explanation should accompany the application to the Nursing Program

7 Admission to the Basic Nursing Program Pre requisites: (must attain “C” or better) –Human Biology (BSC 1080) –Anatomy & Physiology I (BSC 1093C) –Math Requirement MAC 1105 (College Algebra) or STA 2023 (Statistics)

8 Co-Requisites Basic Nursing Program MUST be Completed by the end of First Semester –English Composition I (ENC 1101) –Anatomy & Physiology II (BSC 1094C)

9 Co-Requisites MUST be completed by End of second Semester for Basic Program – –General Psychology (PSY 2012) – –Human Growth & Development (DEP 2004)

10 Other General Education Requirements (must be taken prior to entering last semester) –Humanities (HUM elective) [See Page 84 in College Catalog] –Microbiology (MCB 2013C)

11 Advanced Pharmacology (NUR 2140) must be taken before entering last semester

12 Points System (100 points Possible) GPA 2.75 Minimum Points – 1 pt. for 2.75 GPA, 25 pt. for 4.0 # of Courses Completed Points – 7 points for 2 classes, 25 points for 8 classes ACT composite Score Points – 5 points for a score of 1 40 points for a score of 24 or greater ACT reading score Points – 2 points for a score of 19 10 points for a score of 23 or greater
