Colonized Portugal colonized Brazil - so people from brazil speak Portuguese and they are catholic. Spain colonized Cuba, Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, these are all catholic

Additional info The two main colonial powers of Latin America and the Caribbean were Portugal and Spain. Portugal and Brazil also are Catholic. Portugal colonized Brazil: People from Brazil speak Portuguese and they are Catholic. Spain Colonized Cuba, Mexico, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela all speak Spanish and are Catholic.
