Luke 11:36

1828 Webster’s definition of Hypocrite: “One who feigns to be what he is not; One who has the form of godliness without the power, or who assumes an appearance of piety and virtue, when he is destitute of true religion.”

Luke 11:37-44 “ As Jesus was speaking, one of the Pharisees invited Him home for a meal. So He went in and took His place at the table. His host was amazed to see that He sat down to eat without first performing the hand-washing ceremony required by Jewish custom.

Please turn in your Bibles to: Mark 7:2-8

Luke 11:39-41 “Then the Lord said to him, You Pharisees ‘You Pharisees are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside you are filthy —full of greed and wickedness! ‎

Fools! “Fools! Didn’t God Didn’t God make the inside as well as the outside? ‎ So clean the inside by giving gifts to the poor, and you will be clean all over clean all over.”

Woe to you… “What sorrow awaits you Pharisees! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things more important things.”

“When the love of God fills the heart so that one will be concerned about the needs of others, then only will these outward observances have any real value. He who is constantly gathering up for himself, in utter indifference to the poor and needy about him, gives evidence that the love of God does not dwell in him.” H. A. Ironside

Woe to you… What sorrow “What sorrow awaits you Pharisees! in the marketplaces For you love to sit in the seats of honor in the synagogues and receive respectful greetings as you walk in the marketplaces.”

Woe to you ‎ Woe to you… Yes, “Yes, what sorrow awaits you! For you are like hidden graves in a field. stepping on People walk over them without knowing the corruption they are stepping on.”

“These religious leaders loved giving the impression that they were ever so spiritual, but they actually defiled everyone they came in contact with. Walking over a grave ceremonially defiled a Jewish person, even if they didn’t know it was there.” David Guzik

Luke 11:45-52 “Teacher,” said an expert in religious law, “you have insulted us, too, in what you just said.” ‎ Yes,” “Yes,” said Jesus, “what sorrow also awaits you religious law! experts in religious law!

“For you crush “For you crush people with unbearable religious demand and you never lift a finger ease the burden.” to ease the burden.”

Exodus 20:8-10 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work…”

‎ Luke 11:47-49 “What sorrow awaits you! your ancestors did For you build monuments for the prophets your own ancestors killed long ago. But in fact, you stand as witnesses who agree with what your ancestors did.” ‎

They killed the prophets They killed the prophets, and you join in their crime by building the monuments! This is what God in His wisdom said about you: persecute the others ‘I will send prophets and apostles to them, but they will kill some and persecute the others.’ ‎ — ‎

Luke 11:50-51 As a result “As a result, this generation will be held responsible for the murder of all God’s prophets from the creation of the world from the murder of Abel to the murder of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. this generation Yes, it will certainly be charged against this generation.” ‎

“One can almost feel the withering force of His strong and mighty indignation – indignation directed, not against the people, but against their false guides. And yet behind it all is His heart, and the ‘woes’ merge into a wail of agony, the cry of a mother over her lost child.” G. Campbell Morgan

What sorrow “What sorrow awaits you experts in religious law! For you remove the key to knowledge from the people. You don’t enter the Kingdom yourselves, youprevent others from entering and you prevent others from entering.”

Luke 11:53-54 “As Jesus was leaving, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees became hostile and tried to provoke Him with many questions. ‎ They wanted to trap Him into saying something they could use against Him.”

Luke 12:1-12 “Meanwhile, the crowds grew until thousands were milling about and stepping on each other. Jesus turned first to His disciples and warned them, Beware of the yeast hypocrisy “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees—their hypocrisy.

The time is coming “The time is coming when everything that is covered up will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all. ‎ Whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and for all to hear what you have whispered behind closed doors will be shouted from the housetops for all to hear!” ‎

Dear friends “Dear friends, don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot do any more to you after that. ‎ But I’ll tell you whom to fear. Fear God, who has the power to kill you and then throw you into hell. He’s the one to fear Yes, He’s the one to fear.

What is the price ‎ “What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. ‎ And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; flock of sparrows you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.” ‎

Luke 12:8-9 I tell you the truth “I tell you the truth, everyone who acknowledges Me publicly here on earth, the Son of Man will also acknowledge in the presence of God’s angels. ‎ But anyone who denies Me here on earth will be denied before God’s angels denied before God’s angels.” ‎

“Anyone who speaks “Anyone who speaks against the Son of Man can be forgiven, not be forgiven but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.” ‎

“The highest grace alone makes the deepest apostasy possible, and only he who has reached an important height can plunge into such a depth.” John Peter Lange

“The Holy Spirit’s main ministry is to testify of Jesus (He will testify of Me, John 15:26 ). When that testimony of Jesus is fully and finally rejected, one has truly blasphemed the Holy Spirit and essentially called Him a liar in respect to His testimony about Jesus. Those who reject Jesus in a settled sense are guilty of this sin.” GuzikJohn 15:26

Luke 12:11-12 And when you “And when you are brought to trial in the synagogues and before rulers and authorities, don’t worry about how to defend yourself or what to say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time needs to be said what needs to be said.”

Let’s give God the glory!!
