Project Management Plan  Purpose: – To describe the management processes in use by the eRA project  Scope: – Applies to the software development, maintenance, and operations activities conducted on the eRA project

Goals of eRA Project Management  Ensure that commitments made to the user community, the IC’s, and the Steering Committee are met with fidelity  Ensure that eRA allocates resources in accordance with business priorities as determined by the Steering Committee  Implement modern project management processes that best serve eRA’s advanced software engineering environment and position the project for compliance with industry standard

Project Management  New projects/new software development and major enhancements to existing software  Minor enhancements, bug fixes, software maintenance  Operations, which supports the development and maintenance of software

Project Planning  Development of the Business Plan – Describe the project – Estimate cost and schedule – Estimate the WBS  Evaluation of the Business Plan – eRA CIO, Architect, ISSO  Presentation of Business Plan to Project Team for approval

Monitor and Control Cost and Schedule  Tools – Project Central – Time Tracking System (Oracle SBS) Cost categories Life Cycle phase Workflow – Contractor invoicing

Project Central  Project file conversion completed  Users guide completed and posted  Next steps – Validate project plans – Provide training to business area groups – Configure ODBC settings – Assign tasks / create accounts – using resource pool

Time Tracking System (SBS)  Implemented to provide real-time estimates on project time and cost  Supports all contracting and government staff – ~242 staff members  Time tracked by cost category and workflow
