Revised NIH Grant Policy Statement  Applicable to all NIH grants and cooperative agreements with budget periods beginning October 1,  NIH has published a summary of significant changes available at:  ps/Significant_Changes_NIHGPS_Oct20 15.pdf NOT-OD

New Salary & Research Cost Allowances K08 & K23 Career Development Awards  Effective with applications due on Feb.12 th  Several NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) will contribute up to $100,000 toward the awardee's salary to offset the requested effort (e.g. 9 person months) that will be devoted to research and career development.  Number of ICs already contribute at this level or HIGHER. NOT-OD

NEW NIH & AHRQ Salary Cap  $185,100  IF adequate funds are available in active awards, and if the salary cap increase is consistent with the institutional base salary, grantees may rebudget to accommodate the current salary cap salary level.  No additional funds will be provided to these grant awards and the total estimated cost of the contract will not be modified. NOT-OD & NOT-HS

NRSA Stipend & Tuition/Fees  Effective with all NRSA awards made on or after October 1,  Stipends increase  Tuition and Fees do not change  Training Related Expenses and Institutional Allowance increase  All FY2016 awards previously issued will be revised to adjust stipends to the new level. NOT-OD

SF424 R&R Guides updates  Phase 1  The general SF424 R&R guide will be updated by November 25, 2015 to incorporate instructions for individual fellowship application.  The SBIR/STTR guide will also be updated by November 25,  Both guides should be used for proposals with due dates on or after January 25, 2016 AND before May 25,  Phase 2  New guides will be issued with the release of Forms D effective May 25, 2016.

NIH & AHRQ Announce Upcoming Changes to Policies, Instructions and Forms for 2016 Grant Applications This notice informs the biomedical and health services research communities of planned changes to policies, forms and instructions for grant applications submitted in 2016: * Excellent Chart for Reference* The planned changes focus on the following areas:  Rigor and transparency in research  Vertebrate animals  Inclusion reporting  Data safety monitoring  Research training  Appendices  Font requirements  Biosketch clarifications

ASSIST Reminder  Currently ASSIST is a required system for Multi-Project Applications.  At Dartmouth please continue using RAPPORT for other optional activity codes as your vehicle of submission, as ASSIST is NOT required for these.

New Research Training Table Formats - xTRACT System New training data table formats must be used for RPPRs due December 1, 2015, and after and applications submitted for due dates on or after May 25, Applicants may create tables for their applications and RPPRs either by using fillable tables in MS Word or via the xTRACT system. The xTRACT system is being piloted as an option for creating data tables for T32, TL1, T90/R90, and T15 applications and RPPRs, and will not be required for FY NOT-OD html

NSF New PAPPG (NSF 16- 1)  We are pleased to announce that a revised version of the NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG), (NSF 16-1) has been issued: s_key=nsf16001  The new PAPPG will be effective for proposals submitted, or due, on or after January 25, 2016.

NSF Significant Changes Significant changes in the Grant Proposal Guide include:  Enforcement of 5 p.m. submitter’s local time across all NSF funding opportunities;  Submission of Biographical Sketches and Current and Pending Support separately for each senior personnel;  Collaborators & Other Affiliations Information is no longer part of biosketch, must be uploaded in Additional Single Copy Documents section  Current & Pending must include all current support, including internal funds allocated toward specific projects;

NSF Significant Changes (cont.)  Submission of proposal certifications by the Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) concurrently with proposal submission;  NSF’s implementation of the US Government Policy for Institutional Oversight of Life Sciences on Dual Use Research of Concern;  Provision of Collaborators and Other Affiliations information as a new single-copy document, instead of as part of the Biographical Sketch;

NSF Significant Changes (cont.)  Electronic signature and submission of notifications and requests by the AOR only;  Revision of timeframe for submission of final project reports, project outcomes reports and financial closure of awards to 120 days after the award end date; and  Numerous clarifications throughout the document.
