the world's largest conglomerate by revenue Samsung Electronics the world's largest electronics company

Samsung Electronics 1969: Samsung Electronics was founded Samsung Electronics has grown into the world's largest electronics company They manufacture a range of products such as mobile phones,mp3 players, camera’s, and also LCD televisions

Samsung LCD background In 1995, it built its first liquid-crystal display screenliquid-crystal display Ten years later, Samsung grew to be the world's largest manufacturer of liquid-crystal display panels most commonly known as LCD

Samsung series 6 features 1 st LCD to have a contrast ratio of 50 thousand to 1 full high definition 100htz response time The 1 st television with a colour tinting around the frame

Samsung materials Samsung series 6 LCD has many ways of saving power to help the environment It has a power saver feature were by it will dim the back light of the screen and therefore use less electricity Samsung ensures they do not use any harmful material’s for there LCD products they ensures customers they do not use lead and other harmful materials There microchips come from Microsoft which feature many different modes for saving energy

Samsung LCD eco policy Samsung LCD’S department have a "green procurement system” Eco-partner process what is shown here is a big factor of how Samsung try to help the environment In cooperation with suppliers in an effort to control use of specific chemicals in parts and raw materials

Samsung series 6 Eco-friendly This product has reduced the use of natural resources & energy consumption and the environmental impact compared to other LCD company’s Samsung Electronics is supplying the eco-friendly LCD by cooperation of whole divisions. Environment regulation : RoHS Samsungs internal standard of hazardous substances is stricter than that of RoHS Directive that many other company’s go By, Samsung establishing and maintaining of this strict standard, they can satisfy all of there customers and meet their specific needs.

Samsung legislation SAMSUNG Electronics' Status about RoHS 6 restricted substances The table below shows the current status of SAMSUNG Electronics LCD products in regards to RoHS restricted substances

substanceMCV (Maximum Concentration Value) Status of SAMSUNG’s Integrated Circuits References Cadmium100 ppm of homogeneous material Below threshold, trace impurity in BGA solder balls European Commission RoHS issued December ppm homogeneous material LeadLead-free products are below threshold, MercuryNot used Hexavalent Chromium Not used Polybrominated biphenyls(PBB) Not used Polrybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) Not used

Samsung legislation Samsung Electronics legislation for LCD TV’S Samsung have a Eco- Product Program In 2005 Samsung Electronics has developed a RoHS compliant supply system for all product lines based on Lead-free technology and a Green Procurement system Samsung eco- product program also makes sure all products are halogen free (Toxic and Poisonous)

Environmental regulations Environment regulation : WEEE Samsung are increasing the adoption of parts which can be reused or recycled after use and considering the recyclability and disassembility of products in design stage. By these activities, Samsung are increasing the recycle rates and will meet WEEE Directive. environment regulation : EuP To improve the environmental impact during whole life cycle of products. Samsung design products considering environmental impact not only the hazardous substances and recyclability. Samsung are developing internal environmental evaluation tool for LCD products in order to consider the environmental aspect in design stage.

series 6 examples of environmental factors The series 6 does not use hexavalent Chromium screws. They used to use them on older models but because the screws was not eco friendly they now use benign trivalent chromium which increasing the environment friendliness of the LCD product and also is rust resistant like the hexavalent chromium scews. The series 6 uses 'u'-shape backlights which Lowers product mercury content the brightness of LCD modules has not been affected by the change but the amount of mercury in the lamps has been halved. The results has been a reduction in natural resources and hazardous substances.

Cost Samsung only uses recycle parts or disposable parts when making the series 6 LCD so they can help the environment the price of the materials they use cost more what affects the price of the LCD TV it cost more to transport the material to the manufacture The materials they use are rare and a lot less damaging to the environment These are only a few factors of why Samsung series 6 is priced slightly higher then other LCD’s

Power saving The biggest environmental feature in this product is the power saving which makes savings on power 30% less power usage than normal LCD by other companies The Samsung series 6 uses 190 watts when on power saving mode it only uses 47.5 watts considering a old tube TV uses 37 watts but has less features to run I think this is a great improvement to help the environment Samsung also have a feature for there customers to save energy by a power saving mode what allows customer to change how much energy gets put into the series 6 by going through the menu and selecting power saving mode it reduces the power input by 40% which saves on electricity and helps the environment it does this by slightly dimming the screen and not using as much light to brighten up the LCD

Conclusion In conclusion, I think that the Samsung 6 series is one of the best environmentally friendly LCD out to date. I believe that Samsung electronics will only grow and amaze people on how eco friendly there products really are with there recycle policy were by customers can drop old Samsung electronic products and Samsung re-use them to the design stage of all there products were they make sure the product not only keeps in rohs regulation but goes one step further to help the environment

thank you for listening The end Daniel Reza Lalfam
