Photography and Art Feedback Jamie Long

This is the first photograph I found online, an optical illusion, showing continuance. I asked some members of the public about what they thought of the photograph:  Person One: “The image is an optical illusion, I can’t tell if it is one or two faces”  Person Two: “This means that no matter what colour your skin, everybody is equal”  Person Three: “It shows that there is a diverse society, but everyone is equal”  I got similar answers from a couple of other people and can tell that this had a big impact on them, finding various things about the image itself and thinking deeper into the context of it. Pinterest.com, (n.d.). [online] Available at: [Accessed 4 Oct. 2015].

This is the second photograph I found online, a person alone in an abandoned street showing subordinate dominance. I asked some members of the public about what they thought of the photograph:  Person One: “I think that this person is lonely and has nobody to turn to”  Person Two: “There is nobody around for the person who might need help”  Person Three: “It shows that people get left out and have to travel alone”  I feel that this photo has a deep impact and is very intimate with the person. I agree with the comments of the people I asked, that the person felt very lonely in such a vast area of space with nobody else to turn to if they need help. Theartmad.com, (n.d.). This is the next photograph I found from a book in my college library; a giant, single water-lily as it has just bloomed, showing symmetry. I asked some members of the public about what they thought of the photograph:  Person One: “This shows the beauty of nature and how it lives around us, but remains alone”  Person Two: “This shows nature in all of its glory”  Person Three: “There is nothing else to focus on except from the flower”  I agree with these comment and feel that the environment surrounding the subject has nothing to draw attention. This means that the whole focus will be put upon the flower so that we can admire what nature has to offer and what we could miss if we do not pay attention to the nature around us.

This is another I found in an art book from my college library, an abstract piece which could have various meanings for different people: I asked some members of the public about what they thought of the photograph:  Person One: “This is really bright and vibrant, it really stands out”  Person Two: “I like the way that the colours blend in and flow together”  Person Three: “This stands out a lot due to such bright colours, I can also see some faces trying to form”  I feel that this photo stands out specifically because of such bright and vibrant colours. From the third comment, I can also see some faces trying to form (one of which I have circled). This could represent people trying to stand out amongst the louder people in society, which take over the main focus.

This is another I found online, it has various meanings for different people. I asked some members of the public about what they thought of the photograph:  Person One: “This reminds me about animal cruelty and how we use animals for bad reasons”  Person Two: “This shows that we think animals do not matter and use them in ways we wouldn’t treat people like ourselves”  Person Three: “This is very cruel and shows we don’t care about animals”  I feel that this photo really proves how we are cruel to animals. On the other hand, this could be from the horses point of view; with how it feels about being used for painful and enduring tasks every single day Pinterest.com, (n.d.). [online] Available at: [Accessed 4 Oct. 2015].

This is another I found from online, it is a simple abstract piece, but could have a wide variety of meanings. I asked some members of the public about what they thought of the photograph:  Person One: “This makes me think of nature and its natural forces against the planet”  Person Two: “This makes me think about how we are ruining the planet to make it a darker place”  Person Three: “This makes me feel like there are times of light and times of darkness”  A wide range of ideas which all link intro each other in someway or another. Personally, I feel that it represents how nature/ the world continues with all of its forces as darkness potentially rolls across our lives. Artistrising.com, (n.d.). Artist Rising - Original Artwork and High-Quality Art Prints by Living Artists. [online] Available at: [Accessed 4 Oct. 2015].

This is another I found from online, it is another simple abstract piece, but could also have a wide variety of meanings. I asked some members of the public about what they thought of the photograph:  Person One: “The person is alone on the boat and could be thinking of the world around them”  Person Two: “The person in the boat is enjoying some time alone to think”  Person Three: “The person in the boat has the whole world in front of them”  I heavily agree with the third comment. I personally think that the person sat in the boat is enjoying time alone to think about the world surrounding him and what their life may have to bring in future. A sense of calm, peace and serenity. Pinterest.com, (n.d.). [online] Available at: [Accessed 4 Oct. 2015].

This is a picture I found from online, a strange piece of art which would have many various meanings, especially those with creative minds. I asked some members of the public about what they thought of the photograph:  Person One: “It seems like a picture of somebody has all become messed up”  Person Two: “I can see various parts of a body, its all twisted though”  Person Three: “This doesn’t really mean a lot to me, I don’t see much except from body parts and plants”  Although somebody couldn’t find a meaning from this picture, more creative ideas suggested that there was a twisted idea behind the image. It could possibly show that somebodies mind is twisted and they cannot decide what they need more, the peace of nature or the love from a person.

This is a picture I also found from online, another piece of abstract art. I like abstract images as they can have many meanings behind them. I asked some members of the public about what they thought of the photograph:  Person One: “It looks like two people are going on a romantic walk”  Person Two: “It seems like there are two people enjoying each others company”  Person Three: “It reminds me of Autumn nights and how the trees light up with their different coloured leaves falling below them ”  I feel that two people are enjoying each others company on a romantic walk and there is nothing else around them to ruin their time together. They are focusing on each other properly amongst the beautiful nature and environment. I feel that it represents nature, love and relationships. Painting, L. (n.d.). Leonid Afremov MISTY MOOD Painting | Best Paintings For Sale. [online] Bestpaintingsforsale.com. Available at: _mood html _mood html [Accessed 4 Oct. 2015].

This is the final picture, I found this from online, one final piece of abstract art, which I believe has a very wonderful meaning behind it. I asked some members of the public about what they thought of the photograph:  Person One: “It looks like the story has come to life”  Person Two: “It looks like the words are painting a specific picture in someone's mind”  Person Three: “It reminds me of a story book, where the pictures really stand out”  My personal feeling about this picture is that the story is putting a specific picture in someone’s mind, transferring a precise image into the readers mind. It shows that words can paint pictures so that moments can continue to exist even if you do not remember them happening yourself.
