Pedagogical supervision

EVALUATION EVALUATION is a kind of applied (practical) social research. EVALUATION is neither control nor assessment.

Evaluation is conducted as: External – undertaken by the body responsible for pedagogical supervision Internal - undertaken by the school head

External evaluation Internal evaluation Carried out periodically Carried out by the evaluators’ team Can be as comprehensive or problem related Carried out at any time Focused of current problems of school Can be carried out with respect to certain Regulation

External evaluation External evaluation includes in particular: Collection and analysis of information on the school educational activities Definition of level of school performance in terms of requirements stated in the regulations on supervision.

Purpose of the external evaluation provides the information on: How does the school work in the fields referred to in Regulation? At what level the school meets the requirements given by the state and described in the Regulation? in two types: comprehensive – in all areas of school work selective – problem related, in particular aspects

Requirements have been formulated in four areas of schools activity: 1. Effects of teaching, upbringing and care as well as other school's statutory activities 2. Processes taking place in the school 3. Functioning of school in the local community, in particular in terms of cooperation with parents 4. School management External evaluation

Procedures: Inform the school - one month before the planned evaluation Meeting with the pedagogical council, familiarizing with the scope and timetable for evaluation Conducting the evaluation activities- no longer than 5 working days Present the results and conclusions on the meeting with the pedagogical council - 7 days after completion the evaluation activities at school Developed a report – no later than 7 days after, transmission of the report to the school and to the local authority Publication of the report on the internet

External evaluation is aiming at the assessment of meeting the requirements in relation to five following levels: 1.Level A – very high level of meeting requirements by the school 2.Level B – high level of meeting requirements by the school 3.Level C – average level of meeting requirements by the school 4.Level D – basic level of meeting requirements by the school 5.Level E – low level of meeting requirements by the school.

 Report points out the levels of meeting of all relevant requirements.  Report does not include one single assessment of school performance but the assessment of meeting of each evaluation requirement separately. External evaluation

If meeting of requirements from outside the "effects" area is assessed to be at the E level, the school is obliged to implement actions aiming at the improvement in the given area. External evaluation
