Using a scissors, cut the carrier tape directly between two pockets. Place the splice tape on the tape block with the silver side down. Remove the paper backing from the splice tape to expose the adhesive. Place the two pieces of carrier tape on the tape block using the registration pins to align two ends as close as possible. Fold the tape splice over so the ends of both sides touch the carrier tape. The side without the sprocket holes should secure to the ledge of the carrier tape. 8

Press the compressor down to seal the splice to the carrier tape. Remove the carrier tape and make sure it is spliced correctly. Pull the tab to remove the pink transparent release tape. Rub thumb over splice to ensure sufficient splice adhesion to carrier tape. Position spliced carrier tape on the trimmer and gently press it up against the two shoulders. Press the trimmer down to trim excess splice tape. 9

Cleaning the Cutting blades Use a hex wrench and remove the SHCS on the bottom of the trimmer. Open the trimmer and remove the spring. Use alcohol, acetone, or lacquer thinner, and a cotton swab to clean the blades. Replace the SHCS, and make sure the spring is seated in the upper and lower pockets. Close the trimmer until the upper blade contacts the lower blade. While holding the upper and lower blades together, use a hex wrench as a pry tool. Pry the upper blade away from the lower blade. Use a hex wrench and replace the SHCS on the bottom of the trimmer. 10

Rotating or Replacing blades Remove the SHCS on the bottom of the trimmer. Use a hex wrench and remove the two BHCS on the bottom of the trimmer. Flip the blade over so the sharp trimming edge is on the same side. Follow same procedure for the top trimmer. Replace screws. Make sure the spring is seated in the upper and lower pockets. While holding the upper and lower blades together, use a hex wrench as a pry tool. Pry the upper blade away from the lower blade. Replace SCHS on the bottom of the trimmer. 11
