THE STORY OF MARY AND MARTHA LUKE 10 VERSES By Becky KewPublished at

Mary and Martha lived in Bethany Bethany was like a little suburb of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is in the Middle East. The two sisters and Jesus were good friends.

ON A MAP OF THE WORLD, THE STORIES FROM THE BIBLE MOSTLY TAKE PLACE HERE. We are here.

Mary and Martha welcomed Jesus into their home at Bethany. They loved him.

Would Jesus feel welcome in your home? Or would there be things we would try to hide from him? Things that would make him sad. Sinful things? Things that we watch on T.V., or things we say to our parents or how we treat one another?

Mary sat down on the floor, she wanted to hear everything the Lord Jesus said.

DO I WANT TO HEAR EVERYTHING JESUS SAYS? Or do I like to just pick and choose The things from God’s word that I like to listen to and that make me feel good?

IF YOU REALLY HAVE THE LORD JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR, YOU WILL WANT TO PLEASE HIM AND OBEY ALL THAT HE SAYS! Jesus said: eep __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __.

As Mary sat at the Lord’s feet, Martha was busy serving.

Martha had no time to listen, she was worried about making a big dinner. She was making her pots and pans clang! Martha wasn’t happy, can you guess why?

MARTHA SAID: “Lord, look at my sister, sitting beside you, doing nothing!” “I am working so hard to get dinner ready, tell her to come and help me.”

JESUS SAID: “Martha, Martha, your are careful and troubled about many things, but one thing is more important. Mary is choosing to spend her time with me.

GOD WANTS AND VALUES OUR AFFECTION FAR MORE THAN SERVICE. He’s sees the state of our heart. If we are not close to him in our heart, the things we think that we are doing that are good and for him, will not be valued by him. He will not accept them.

HOW DO WE GET CLOSE TO HIM IN OUR HEART? LOOK UP: Isaiah 55:6 Luke 19:10 John 5:24 1John 5:12-13

AFTER WE KNOW WE ARE SAVED, THEN WE CAN APPLY THIS VERSE TO OUR DAILY LIVES.

BE LIKE MARY! DELIGHT YOURSELF IN THE LORD! WHAT DOES HE PROMISE?

What does this verse really mean?

This does not mean we will get what we want! If does mean, that if we know the Lord and are following him, our desires will be what he wants for us. His will is perfect! His plan is what is best for you!
