 The baby koalas in the mothers pouch are as small as a jelly bean and furless.  You might see koalas in trees sleeping.  Koalas can weigh pounds.

 Koalas live in a country called Australia.  They also live in forests.  They live in eucalyptus trees.

 Koalas eat only one type of leaf, the eucalyptus leaf.  Koalas eat different eucalyptus leaves.  Unlike bears they are herbivores.

 The babies are born 5 weeks after their parents mate.  At 5 months the joey pokes it’s head out of the mothers pouch

 Koalas arms are perfect for the trees they live in.  Koalas have two thumbs.

 Koalas are marsupials that means the females have pouches to carry their babies  “koala” means no drink in Australia.  Koalas are not bears.  Koalas sleep a lot because their food doesn’t have much protein.
