6 What is a koala? Mammal (like humans, kangaroos, dogs, cows, etc) Marsupial (have pouches/pockets for their baby) Size of a small dog Males live around 10 years, females? Females live for15 years Question: how many thumbs does a koala have on its front paw? 1, 2, 3, none?

8 Where do Koalas live? In Australia Many in the State of Queensland (where I live) Are there Koalas in other Asian countries? They only live in Australia They eat eucalyptus tree leaves

9 Why are koalas famous? Special to Australia Unique like Kangaroos Cute and cuddly––funny looking Lazy! Have pouches and their babies are cute Hang on trees and sleep a lot What is baby koala called? Joey

10 Population and danger Population is decreasing. Why? 1 million were killed in1919 only in Queensland. Why? Fur Do koalas have enemies? Humans, dogs, cars, disease

11 Where can we see koalas in Australia? In Brisbane Queensland: Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary ( close to my house! ) Australia Zoo: Brisbane, Queensland Taronga zoo, Sydney Melbourne zoo
