2 ANIMAL GROUP A koala is a marsupial. It gives birth to live young.

5 adaptations A koala has rough skin on their hands and feet so they have a better grip when climbing trees.

6 babies A koala usually has one baby at a time.
When a koala is born it is called a joey, or a baby koala.

7 Interesting Facts At birth a joey, or a baby koala, is the size of a jelly bean. They have two thumbs on each hand. Koalas don’t eat leaves off of many eucalyptus trees. A koala sleeps more than sixteen hours per day. In the north they weigh eleven pounds.

8 Information A female koala carries her baby in her pouch for about six months.
