Who is Carter G. Woodson? He is considered the father of African American History He studied at the University of Chicago and received his PhD from Harvard He was the editor of the Journal of Negro History

Who is Carter G. Woodson? In 1926 he started African American History Week in February Today we now know this as Black History Month He chose February because Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass were born in that month. Why are those two figures important to African American History?
