Relationships & Communications in Germany Business Meeting Etiquette Dishes Greetings

Germans do not need a personal relationship in order to do business. They will be interested in the amount of time your company has been in business. Germans display great deference to people in authority. Relationships & Communications in Germany

Germans do not have an open-door policy. People often work with their office door closed. Knock and wait to be invited in before entering. German communication is formal. As a group, Germans are suspicious of hyperbole, promises that sound too good to be true, or displays of emotion

Appointments should be made 1 to 2 weeks in advance. The letters should be written in German. Meetings are generally formal. Initial meetings are used to get to know each other. They allow your German colleagues to determine if you are trustworthy. Maintain direct eye contact while speaking. Business Meeting Etiquette

In business in Germany it is very important to remember punctuality. Even small delay for minutes can serve as a hindrance in adjustment of business relations. It is necessary to call and warn your partner. Also it is necessary to explain a reason of delay. It is necessary to avoid to appoint a meeting on Friday after hours – many companies do not work at this time. Although English may be spoken, it is a good idea to hire an interpreter so as to avoid any problems.

At a greeting, and also at farewell it is accepted to shake each other hands. It is necessary to address on " You" and on a surname, for example, "mister Schmidt". Only friends presume to pass to themselves on "you", but only by a mutual consent. Germans respect ranks and titles and use them at the reference and representation. Greetings

In Germany to you never will submit a soup plateful - only small portion; garnishes also can be submitted in small volume, frequently - in small baskets-tartlets. Dishes
