A School of the Bruin Leaders’ Academy – Pilot Aug 2014

 Cadet Battalion Commander (c/LTC)  - Responsible for all battalion activities  – Supervises, provides guidance and direction for the Battalion Staff Officers, Company Commanders, and Battalion SGM in insuring all activities and training are planned, coordinated and executed efficiently  – Sets the standard and direction of the battalion  – Builds an effective chain of command and develops a positive command climate  – Responsible for developing commander’s intent aligned with the intent of the SAI; communicates intent and empowers subordinates to act appropriately to accomplish the mission  – Ensures Cadet compliance with policies and procedures of the program  – Creates suspense dates to accomplish Battalion missions and enforces standards  – Serves as a link between all Cadets and the Senior Army Instructor  – Advises the Senior Army Instructor concerning all Cadet matters  – Provides guidance and feedback to event staffs and serves as a liaison between Cadets and cadre as required

 Cadet Battalion Executive Officer (c/MAJ)  – Second in command; assumes command and commander responsibilities in the Cadet Battalion Commander’s absence  – Serves as the Chief of Staff; supervises and coordinates the efforts of the battalion staff in planning, coordination and execution of Battalion events  – Frees the commander from routine details and passes pertinent data, information and insight from the staff to the commander and from the commander to the staff  – Ensures staff suspense dates are met and remains knowledgeable of the current status of staff actions  – Serves as a link between all Cadets and the Cadet Cdr  – Responsible for the safety and risk assessment of all battalion events  – Performs all other duties as assigned by the Battalion Commander  – Serves as the leader of event staffs to plan and conduct battalion training

 Cadet Battalion Sergeant Major (c/SGM)  – Principal advisor to the commander on the state of morale, discipline, and training of Cadets within the battalion  – Advises the Battalion Commander on planning, coordinating and supervising activities of the battalion  – Works as a catalyst in communication to and from Cadets to the Cadet battalion chain of command and staff  – Accounts for personnel during all Battalion level activities and events  – Conducts Battalion formations; responsible for training and execution of drill and ceremonies at all levels  – Oversees the training and performance of the Battalion Color Guard  – Responsible for the appearance of Cadets, equipment and facilities  – Serves as a link between all Cadets and the Senior Army Instructor  – Responsible for the readiness and implementation of any hip-pocket training  – Coordinates with the Army Instructor and S3 to create PT plan and supervise the Cadet Challenge

 Cadet Battalion Administration Officer (S-1 — c/CPT)  – Principal staff officer for all matters concerning human resources including personnel readiness and personnel services  – Provides administrative support for the battalion  – Prepares and maintains unit strength reports, rosters and records utilizing the JROTC Unit Management System  - Plans, organizes and supervises the execution of battalion awards ceremonies, change of command ceremonies, promotion ceremonies and social events  – Receives operational control of any special project committees as directed by the commander  -Controls mentorship roster and counseling program

 Cadet Security and Safety Officer/ROO (S-2 — c/CPT)  – Supervises battalion physical security and safety  – Provides terrain analysis, light and weather data and threat information for battalion planning  – Serves on event staff for planning and conducting battalion training events  – Principal staff officer for all matters concerning recruiting and civil/community operations  – Responsible for all Cadet recruiting on/off the school campus as the cadet Recruiting Operations Officer (ROO)  - The S-2 is in charge of our merit/demerit system.

 Cadet Battalion Training Officer (S-3 — c/CPT/MAJ)  – Principal staff officer responsible for all matters concerning training, operations and plans  – Plans, organizes and supervises the conduct of all Cadet training  – Allocates resources to ensure the accomplishment of all missions  – Prepares and maintains events information and records such information in the JROTC Unit Management System (JUMS)  – Prepares Operations Orders, training schedules and memoranda to facilitate battalion training and operations  – Ensures all battalion level classes and training are rehearsed by instructors and cadets (if req’d) prior to execution  – Serves on event staff for planning and conducting battalion training events  – Responsible for coordinating with Cadre for creation of the overall Training Calendar and Unit Report

 Cadet Battalion Supply Officer (S-4 — c/CPT)  – Primary Staff Officer responsible for coordinating the logistics integration of supply, maintenance, transportation and services for the battalion  - Coordinates for, receives, distributes and controls supplies and equipment for training  - Conducts inventories and maintains a continuous working knowledge of on hand supplies and equipment within the battalion  - Responsible for early coordination with and serves as a link between Cadets and the Cadre Army Instructor  -Serves on event staff for planning and conducting battalion training events

 Cadet Battalion Public Affairs Officer (PAO/S-5 — c/CPT)  - Responsible for enhancing the relationship between Army JROTC (us) and civilian authorities to include school staff and faculty with public information, internal information, community relations, written publications, photographs and related material  - Specifically responsible for the written material, consolidation and publication of the battalion newsletter  - Specifically responsible for JROTC information included in the Principal’s school newsletter  - Serves as a focal point for local advertising of the program  - Serves on event staff for planning and conducting battalion training events (i.e. Alumni newsletter, Veterans Day, Blood Drive, etc.)  - Responsible for fundraising events such as Family Portrait Day and JROTC Annual Dinner, etc.  Responsible for photo/video support for all Bn events

 Cadet Battalion Information & Technology Officer (S-6 – c/CPT)  - Responsible for creating and maintaining a teleconference medium for BBSO meetings.  - Responsible for maintaining communication with FPHS JROTC Alumni  - Maintain and update the FPHS JROTC Fusion Page  - Maintain and update the FPHS Army JROTC website  - Maintain the FPHS Army JROTC Facebook  - Maintains all computer, printer, television monitors, and projectors, and any movement of televisions, computers, printers and projectors.
