CHEETAH: An African wild cat

Species There are 36 species of the wildcat family across the globe. The place you’d most likely find wildcats is in Africa.

The Cheetah According to the Illustrated Encyclopedia of Animals, the average cheetah can run 97 km/h

Description The cheetah has a skinny, long-legged body with blunt semi- retractile claws. The male is slightly larger than the female. His body colour is tan with small black spots, and has coarse, short hair. Adult body length cm; tail length cm; shoulder height cm; weight 31-64kg. The cheetah has a small head with high- set eyes.

Habitat Cheetahs do well in areas with a lot of land where prey is abundant. Namibian cheetahs have been discovered in a variety of habitats, including grasslands, savannahs, dense vegetation, and mountainous terrain.
