City of Fort Worth Pet Adoption Center – 4800 Loop 820

Unique partnership between the City, Petsmart, Petsmart Charities and local donors

Petsmart, Petsmart Charities Chairman and Board of Directors and staff

During national adoption week the Adoption Center and its partners found homes for 90 shelter animals – four times greater than an average week. On Grand Opening Day the Fort Worth Animal Shelter ran out of adoptable cats and dogs. On Grand Opening Day the new Pet Adoption Center got down to a just a couple of dogs and a few cats….who were later adopted the next day. Fort Worth Veterinarian’s worked several evenings and over the weekend to spay and neuter animals because of the high adoption demand. 726 Donors = $198, The “soft opening” for the new Pet Adoption Center was April 22 nd. Since that day, not a single adoptable pet has been euthanized.

Scott Hanlan, Assistant Director Keane Menefee, Animal Care and Control Manager
